After hearing Angus Young raping his stereo, Arild soon left a very promising football career at an early age. His hair got long and dark, and he traded his football shoes for an old guitar. It did’nt take long before Arild became a guitar virtuous, and an excellent song writer. In his teen years he was influenced by early trashmetal bands like Metallica and Slayer. He soon formed a couple of bands(Terror & Semper Fi), in which he further developed his master skills in songwriting. Playing in these bands, Arild actually where one of the pioneers in developing the sound we all know now as melodic death metal, even before bands like Carcass and In Flames existed.

Together with Harald, Arild is the founder, songwriter and “mastermind” of Von Raven.
